Symptoms That May Require a Root Canal
If you have a cracked or chipped tooth, swollen gums, or advanced decay from untreated cavities, you may need a root canal. You may also need one if you have tooth pain that doesn’t go away when you chew or bite, or if your teeth are sensitive to hot or cold. These signs usually mean that there is an infection or inflammation in the tooth’s pulp, which is the soft tissue inside the tooth that has nerves and connective tissue. If you don’t pay attention to these signs, your pain may get worse, your teeth may decay more, or you may even lose a tooth.
Our dentist in Bradford, Dr. Rebeca Riojas-Ozturk, leads the team at BWG Dental Centre.
What Is a Root Canal?
A root canal is a treatment for infection or decay that has gotten to the pulp of a tooth. The first step is to take X-rays to see how bad the damage is. The tooth is opened up, the infected tissue is taken out, and the canals are cleaned very well. After that, gutta-percha is used to seal the canals, and a crown may be put on the tooth to make it stronger, work better, and look better.
Root canal therapy works well to stop infection, ease pain, and save your natural tooth. At BWG Dental Centre, we want to keep your mouth healthy while also making you feel comfortable and confident again with safe, reliable care.
